Gatineau brown Bin Program

Gatineau Green Bin with Bag Liner The Gatineau Brown Bin Program was launched mid-2010 to 80,000 households. Since organic waste such as food scraps and yard clippings make up about 45% of Gatineau’s residential garbage, using your Brown Bin improves our environment by recycling our organic waste, extending the life of landfills and reducing greenhouse gases.

When you put your organic waste into your Brown Bin, the City takes it to a local composting site where the material into compost suitable for farms, gardens and nurseries.
