I have been using your small and large food waste bags for the last four months in a Green Bin pilot project. Both bags are working great for us. I use the small bag in my small green container in my kitchen under the sink. This bag I periodically during the week empty into the bigger green bin in my garage. I actually use the same smaller bag 2 or 3 weeks with no leakage. The bigger bag I only use for one week and I have no problems with leakage. Just in case, I place shredded paper under the paper bag in the big green bin. For both bags, I find folding the top over then placing them in the green bins makes for fewer misses into the bag. So much garage can go into these Green Bins, I no longer buy the big plastic garage bags. Instead, I am investing in the future with your Earth-friendly paper bags which are doing a fantastic job for our family of five (that includes our cat and her daily deposits). Close

I saw your Kitchen paper bags promoted in a local flyer at the exact same time I had made a personal commitment to stop using plastic bags as kitchen garbage bags and thought the price seemed fair and that I should give the Food Waste Bag a try. Well they have surpassed my expectations, as the bags states they are odour proof, they do not leak and for a family of four they last about a week and a bit. So 5 bags actually carry me through one month. They just seem to last forever. I am no longer picking up plastic bags at the grocery store and plan to use the bags for all garbage cans in the house. Thank you for creating such an environmentally safe product that works in the house. Close

Thank you, Carolyn, for helping me find a Burlington retailer who has these FABULOUS bags in stock. I would never have thought it possible to be so excited about garbage bags, but I am now Bag to Earth's biggest fan! No more disgusting, slimy, broken bags under the sink or in our green cart. Disposing of food scaps is no longer a nasty chore in our house. Thanks, Carolyn! Close

Recieved a bag within our mail. Love them! Much better than the cheap biodegradable/expensive bags that we have been using. Oshawa Resident, Linda Warrington

I love the bags and use them fathfully. They are everything you advertise them to be...odourproof, leakproof and durable. I do, however, have an issue with the non-biodegradable plastic tie that the ten packs are bundled with. It would make more sense to use a more environmentally friendly substance in your packaging such as hemp twine or another compostable material. Regards from Mary in Hamilton, Ontario Close

Seeing as I use mainly fresh or frozen foods this is an amazing option for us. However, I am very disappointed as I live in an apartment building and I do not have a green bin. I have to say that I have just received my bag in the mail and am SO EXCITED to use it, but I have no clue where to put it. Does it go out with the regular garbage bins? The green trucks don't do pick up here. I think it would be a massive disappointment to see these bags thrown into a regular garbage truck. 75% of the garbage from my household is compost-able. 75%!!! That is a massive number of refuse going to waste.. (pardon the pun). I look forward to participating but would like even more to see a green bin delivered to my door. Close

I have been using the bags in a Compost Plus pilot project for the past four years. The large bags are well designed, hygienic and an efficient way to deal with organic waste. I have one in my kitchen on an ongoing basis (with the top folded over when not in use) and we have no difficulty with odours or fruit flies. I have three yellow labradors sharing the same space all day and not once have they approached the bag: now that's hermetic!! Any waste that is particularly nasty or "ripe" I first wrap in newspaper or put in a small bag-to-earth bag before adding it to the pile in the large bag. I'm extremely happy with the system and it has dramatically cut our landfill garbage from two or three to less than one full bag a week. P.S. In our experience, the system is much more hygienic than plastic garbage bags in the hot summer months: whereas the plastic heats up and essentially stews its contents, the compostable bags maintain a more moderate temperature and the waste doesn't liquefy (or smell) nearly as rapidly. I have used your bags for years. I recently tried (out of curiosity) a cheaper version of the bags and was grossly disapointed. I am now back to using your clearly superior bags. Keep it up! H. Williams Waterloo ON

The following is an e-mail sent to G. Colgan, fall of 2001 from the Toronto, Ontario area.
"Back in July you sent me a carton of your manila bags to test. It followed my disappointment with bags produced in the U.S. As promised, I distributed packs of five to various neighbours to test how the bags stood up to usage. It is a fact that NOT ONE bag broke up after being subjected to saturation. Four of my friends reported bags being sodden at the bottom when put out for pick-up, but none gave way. Just in the past two weeks (collection is made every two weeks) two of us deliberately left filled bags out during periods of heavy rain. They dried out at the top, remained wet at the bottom, but none gave way. Clearly, you make a product that meets its purpose. With winter conditions, I can't see any change in the product's ability to withstand the elements. Thank you, George, for your confidence in allowing me to test your product. Regards, Close
