    Q: Why should my municipality consider going with paper rather than plastic for organic waste?

    A: Plastic bags are not compostable. The cost of processing organic waste with plastic bags in the waste stream is extremely expensive. If plastic bags are used, they have to be disposed of in landfills. If paper bags are used, they become part of the finished grade AA compost. A paper bag, once used and placed in active compost returns to the earth, the place where it came from.
