Q: Why should my municipality consider going with paper rather than plastic for organic waste?

A: Plastic bags are not compostable. The cost of processing organic waste with plastic bags in the waste stream is extremely expensive. If plastic bags are used, they have to be disposed of in landfills. If paper bags are used, they become part of the finished grade AA compost. A paper bag, once used and placed in active compost returns to the earth, the place where it came from. A plastic bag comes directly from fossil fuels and because it can’t be recycled, composted or reused, has a negative effect on any environmental initiative.

Q: What are the benefits of using BAG TO EARTH products in my municipality?

    A:
    • Eliminate de-bagging
    • Lower your processing costs
    • Extend the life of landfill sites
    • Increase your finished Grade AA compost
    • Reduce greenhouse gases such as methane gas created when organic waste in landfills decomposes
    • Maximize your diversion goals
    • Lower your capital costs: no expensive screening or collection equipment required
    • Make plastics a thing of the past and help the earth help itself today

Q: How do consumers in my municipality benefit from using BAG TO EARTH products?

A: All of our reinforced bags have the proven ability to hold and divert yard waste and food waste and our Food Waste Bags use a patented process which makes them leak-resistant. These all-natural, all-weatherproof paper bags are actually stronger than plastic and hold yard and food waste better, from filling right through collection to the compost site. And because our Food Waste Bags eliminated the need for double-bagging or frequent replacement of bags through the week, the final cost to consumer is quite low.
